Maintenance Instructions

Maintenance Instructions

The condition of wooden exterior cladding must be inspected annually. All painted surfaces require maintenance, including wooden facades. At least every two years during the summer, surfaces should be washed with clean water to remove dust, insects, and other impurities that may promote algae or mold growth.

If you notice any damage, determine the cause. Structural deficiencies in the facade should be repaired as soon as possible. If the paint surface is intact but dirty or moldy, clean it using, for example, a BIOKLEEN algae and mold wash solution. Repair any damage to the paint surface using the same paint that was used for the product’s original factory finish.

Damage caused by resin (pitch) bleeding or knots showing through must be repaired immediately. Resin is a naturally occurring substance, and its appearance is not due to defects in the material or workmanship. If resin bleeding breaks the paint film, the resin and damaged paint must be removed, after which the discolored area should be touch-up painted in accordance with the provided maintenance repainting instructions.

Under normal conditions, maintenance repainting for properly installed and factory-painted exterior cladding products is required approximately every 10–20 years.

Painting Conditions

The surface to be painted must be dry. The moisture content of the wood must not exceed 20% of the dry weight of the wood. During painting and drying, the temperature of the air, surface, and paint must be above +5°C (41°F), and the relative humidity must be below 80%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight.
